PICOUK Research & Development

As one would expect of a paranormal investigation organisation, a huge amount of time is spent researching the possible reasons why certain locations should be haunted. At PICOUK however, we go a lot further. During the late 1800’s and early 1900’s many differing methods of spiritual communication were developed in attempts to contact the other side. Sadly, it would appear that most of these devices slipped away into obscurity with some of them even failing to make it off the drawing board.

Not only have PICOUK tried to recreate some of these early devices but along the way we have been inspired to develop our own range of communication devices which we believe would have been technologically possible to construct during the Victorian era. As some of the devices are so unique, patents have been applied for and at present are only available for use during our investigations and our public events. Click here to see a list of the alternative equipment we have available to us.

PICOUK and Derwent Paranormal Investigators

We are a small team of experienced paranormal investigators who are based in Derby, the dead centre of the United Kingdom and have a small team who operate under the name of Derwent Paranormal Investigators. As dedicated amateurs with no external funding, we are under no pressure whatsoever to produce results and therefore, there is no need for any of the data collected to be fabricated. We believe in conducting our paranormal investigations under controlled conditions wherever possible and we will not report on what individuals sense, unless it is backed up by other media evidence or the person has been specifically invited on one of our investigations to use their skills.

Although amateur paranormal investigators, we insist on working to very high professional standards, which involves having the highest respect for the property we are investigating, thereby limiting the possibility of damage to the property, nuisance to other people or residents within the vicinity and reducing the possibility of accident or injury

We do not claim that everything shown on this site is paranormal. What we will say is that content on this site is, to the best of our knowledge, has had nothing added, digitally or otherwise. We will leave it up to you to decide for yourselves, or debate on our forum whether the examples displayed are caused by a natural phenomenon, the use of specific equipment, or in fact paranormal. Should the opportunity arise, we will attempt to reproduce our findings on a future investigation at the same location in an attempt to eliminate a naturally occurring, or contaminated discovery.

PICOUK and ESSIVE (Extradimensional Spiritual and Supernatural InVEstigators)

With the increased interest in paranormal investigations over the recent years and the number of requests we get from people wishing to join our team we have created a second string to our bow in the form of ESSIVE. Although ESSIVE’s home territory is East Staffordshire investigations can be carried out throughout the UK. With a more open membership, it is our intention to train the members both in how to carry out an overnight vigil, as well as how to efficiently use the available equipment to its maximum potential.

So why should we be almost giving away such a package to the ESSIVE membership? We have found over the years to our cost that many places no longer permit, or are very wary of paranormal investigations. This has been caused by teams not conducting themselves in the correct manner, thereby causing a nuisance to the property owners. With the correct training we hope not only to be able to maintain the number of available locations but also instil confidence in some of the investigations that have been lost.
