The Christmas Experiment

Are you a regular paranormal investigator who will be taking the week off during the festive period or maybe you just have a casual interest in the paranormal? If you’ll pardon the pun, to prevent you from going through ‘cold turkey’ From the 25 December 2007 to 1 January 2008 we will be conducting a live experiment via our webcasting service which is normally reserved for our clients to view recorded video from our investigations. This experiment however does not entail looking for ghosts even though the camera is in a very active location, but instead is a test into the power of the mind. A telekinetic toy will be the focus of the webcam and it will be you who has to channel your energy on it and try to get the toy to rotate. Visit http://www.picoukvideo.co.uk to try and enter the username  merry and the password xmas

As part of our continuing interest into the paranormal we have created a new forum specifically for ghost stories. It is our opinion that over the years many tales of ghosts and hauntings may have been past down from one generation to the next and although, during their travels they may have suffered from Chinese whispers and sensationalism there may be an element of truth buried within. Also, with the amount of paranormal programmes which have been aired so far during this millennium more people are aware of their surroundings and possible paranormal activity which may lead to more modern accounts of ghosts and hauntings. It is of course, also an opportunity for people to exercise their creative abilities and make up a completely fabricated story which I guess the more experienced among us should be able to identify without too many problems.

So why not let us know your story whether it be factual or fictional on our new forum at http://ghoststories.17.forumer.com/index.php or just visit the forum to read other peoples stories.

This year (2006) has seen a dramatic rise in the number of private houses we have been asked to investigate or assist with. In some of the cases residents have been too afraid to stay in their homes but in almost all cases we have been able to assure them that there is in fact nothing to be worried about. This does not however mean that it is no more than the occupant’s imagination as we have found evidence at each location that seems to defy rational explanation. Although initially our clients want what is there moving on, in many cases, after learning that what is there means them no harm, are quite happy for them to remain there without us having to move them on. But what intrigues us is are we getting asked to assist at more private houses because of our reputation or is it because more residents are noticing strange things going on in their properties?

Through PICOUK, both our Derwent Paranormal Investigators and ESSIVE teams are now able to offer a completely revolutionary service following paranormal investigations. We now have the ability to broadcast our full video footage from an overnight investigation or vigil over the internet. We realise that a lot of sensitive information can be obtained during an investigation and we will not be broadcasting any audio along with the video as we do not wish to cause any distress or embarrassment to our clients or guests. Presently, this facility will only be available to our team members, clients and guests but, don’t worry, should we capture a ghost on video, the footage will still be put in the public domain on one of our websites.

Over the years we have strived to keep the media on our websites suitable for our visitors who use dial up internet. This of course has meant that quite a bit of our haunted video footage and EVP has not been suitable for inclusion. As we think it is a shame that possibly some of our best footage is currently being kept to ourselves we are planning on creating a brand new area which will only be suitable for broadband users. We hope to have the first of our video footage available sometime during February. Of course, wherever possible, we will still be supplying video and audio clips suitable for our ‘dial up’ guests. We have republished the Tamworth Castle Investigation website in its entirety. Originally we intended to just publish the best bits on the DPI site but since we collected so much data for this investigation we felt it a shame to let any of it go to waste. As the site is purely an archive however, we have hosted it for free on Bravenet. The new site can be found here

PICOUK have launched a new venture aimed at the paranormal entertainment sector. The new venture works under the banner of the (K)nights of fear (www.knights-of-fear.co.uk) with three of the team working on a professional basis. Currently the (K)nights of fear are working exclusively with the Derby Heritage Centre, providing the services of paranormal guides for private overnight bookings at either the Derby Gaol or the Derby Heritage Centre.

Our Derby based team, Derwent Paranormal Investigators, are now the official paranormal investigation team for the Derby Heritage Centre. Members of the team will be assisting with ‘Huge Ghost Hunts’ and public ‘Overnight Vigils’ arranged by the Heritage Centre. Members of the team will also be available for private ‘sleepovers’ at the Derby Gaol as the alternative to a Medium, giving the participants the opportunity to try out some of our equipment and spiritual communication devices and methods first hand.

PICOUK are now able to accept your paranormal pictures from your mobile phone cameras. These can be sent via MMS to 07719 473042  We will start a gallery for these pictures in our media section and if you include your details will be only too pleased to include them with your photograph. I'm sure you will all want to join us in discussing the pictures from the mobile phone cameras in our forum.

PICOUK have developed a new ‘spirit’ communication device. Although one would expect in this age any new developments to be full of electronics, our new device would not have been out of place in Victorian times. Unlike spirit or ouija boards though, which for some reason do not seem to be able to work if the sitters are unaware of the position  of the characters on the board, trials of our new communication device have proved most successful when used in complete darkness. This has been achieved by using a night vision video camera to relay the answers back to the sitters. During the first two trials with our ESSIVE  team we have gained some very realistic answers and having applied for a patent and hope to be marketing it soon commercially. Watch this space.

One of the reasons 35mm photographs are preferred to digital photographs on investigations is the fact that with pictures taken using a 35mm camera have a negative which can be used to validate the picture. However, pictures taken with most digital cameras have additional data encoded into them which, is lost if the image is altered in any way. We now have the facilities to retrieve this data therefore validating the pictures as untouched originals. If you would like us to try and validate your digital photographs for you please email them to us at the address on our contacts page.
