Sutton Scarsdale Hall - 30/09/06

Chris and Eleanor (PICOUK) were invited by Notts Paranormal Investigators to join them on an investigation at Sutton Scarsdale Hall.

Weather

On arrival the weather was fine with clear skies, however around 2 am heavy rain started.

Tour of the location

On arrival at around 9:30 after bringing our kit from the vehicles we took a tour of the location, after a quick look around we noticed that most of the team were walking round with torches therefore missing a lot. Chris explained to several members of the team and told them to look towards a window in the book room; most of the people there saw what looked like a man sitting on the windowsill reading a book. Some of the team members also saw a figure in the servants’ hall that appeared to be standing facing the wall in a corner. Eleanor was called over to a group of the team members that contained a new member, she had seen a figure walking towards her that had frightened her and then felt something like a big dog brush up against her leg. After calming the team member down Eleanor explained that the large dog was with her and there was nothing to worry about.

After everyone had taken their fill of photographs we decided to open proceedings with glass divination in the servants’ pantry with a Yes No board.

Unexpected Guests

While we were taking a break a group of local residents arrived, they comprised of two male adults and four male minors all of who appeared to be over 11. Two of the young males were talking to us while the others climbed up a wall to get a higher vantage point, after a few minutes one of them decided to climb down when he was around half way the appeared to slip and fall. He landed on his hands and feet, stood up and was concerned that he had dirtied his clothes but was unhurt. As he approached us Eleanor describes a young male spirit who appeared to push him as he was descending, he only did it for a laugh the spirit liked to cause mischief. One of the adults came over and as the spirit was described to him he recognised the description and character as a relative of the other adult.

The locals were telling us about pervious visits and what they had seen, they asked if they could stand by and watch for a while so we decided to try another glass divination session.

The spirit withdrew from the table and Eleanor became aware of a spirit hovering just outside the room, as servants were not allowed into the room with the family and guests she gave the spirit permission to enter the room and talk.

Table Tipping

After a short break, some of the group went with the locals to scout a possible location for another investigation and the rest of us opened a table tipping session. Almost immediately we made contact with the master of the house, he was angry and annoyed with Eleanor for being presumptuous and allowing Alice to enter the room and talk. He admitted that he was having a relationship with a male and stated he was not ashamed of his behaviour. After around twenty minutes just when the table was really rocking it started to rain and as this location is outside with absolutely no shelter we had to quickly pack up and leave. Eleanor quickly closed the session and thanked the spirit for allowing us into his home, stating that we would return to visit him as soon as time and the weather permit. As we were getting good results we all feel that a return visit should be made.
